Blood and Sand

Blood and Sand is a series of photographs made in response to the referendum of 2016, where the British public voted to leave the European Union. This act clearly divided the country and is still leaving its mark on the mood of the nation.

Out of time spent in the landscape, away from the media and often polemic reflections of the societal and political instability, this work expresses my anxieties, hopes and fears about a decision that will be felt for generations to come.

With an overwhelming desolation, the short series coupled by the bleakness landscapes and the realities of a rural location; moving from the darkness of the result of ‘Brexit’, with isolated sculptural and still life motifs. It plays with the illusory, totemic and forced patriarchy that led us into years of uncertainty.
